That misunderstanding with your teammates could actually be a strong focus. Admissions love seeing how you handle conflict and grow from it. Maybe you could reflect on a specific moment - how the issue happened/how you handled it/what you learned from the experience. Showing how you improved as a communicator or leader could really make your essay stand out.
When I wrote my essay, I focused on a club I was in and a challenge we faced as a team. At first, I thought it’d be all about fun, but I quickly had to step up and work through disagreements. I shared how I grew from that and how it made me a better leader, which ended up being the key to my essay.
Here’s what helped me:
Be specific. Even small moments can make a big impact if you focus on what you learned.
Focus on growth. What did you learn from the misunderstanding? How did it make you better?
Numbers/stats. If possible, share any improvement after the issue, like a better team record or personal growth.
Make it personal. This is your chance to show how you think and what matters to you.
I used my story to show how I learned from challenges, and it really worked for me. Just be authentic, and make sure it reflects you.
Good luck!
